  • Weight – the amount or quantity of heaviness or mass; amount a thing weighs. 
  • Centigram – one 100th of a gram, equivalent to 0.1543 grain. cg 
  • Gram – a metric unit of mass or weight equal to 15.432 grains; one thousandth of a kilogram. g 
  • Kilogram – a unit of mass equal to 1,000 grams: the basic unit of mass in the International System of Units (SI). kg
  • Milligram – a unit of mass or weight equal to one thousandth of a gram, and equivalent to 0.0154 grain. mg

  • Microgram – a unit of mass or weight equal to one millionth of a gram, used chiefly in microchemistry. μg

  • Pound – (in English-speaking countries) an avoirdupois unit of weight equal to 7000 grains, divided into 16 ounces (0.453 kilogram), used for ordinary commerce. lb., lb. av.

  • Ounce – a unit of weight equal to 437.5 grains or 1/16 pound (28.35 grams) avoirdupois; a unit of 480 grains, 1/12 pound (31.1 grams) troy or apothecaries’ weight.
  • Ton – a unit of weight, equivalent to 2000 pounds (0.907 metric ton) avoirdupois short ton, or net ton in the United States and 2240 pounds (1.016 metric tons) avoirdupois long ton in Great Britain.
  • Carat – a unit of weight in gemstones, 200 milligrams (about 3 grains of troy or avoirdupois weight). c., ct.
  • Grain – the smallest unit of weight in most systems, originally determined by the weight of a plump grain of wheat. In the U.S. and British systems, as in avoirdupois, troy, and apothecaries’ weights, the grain is identical. In an avoirdupois ounce there are 437.5 grains; in the troy and apothecaries’ ounces there are 480 grains (one grain equals 0.0648 gram).
